Socially Active through Social Activity, I have a great job, a great wusband, a great life…these are my stories
This weekend is the annual anniversary celebration of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (www.nclrights.org) This is one of my favorite nights of the social season. It sells out every year. 1500 people at about $500 a head. Here’s the cool part, 3/4 of the whole crowd is women, 7/8 of those women are queer! And unlike at some Pride party, they are dressed to the nines, instead of half naked. And with Kate Clinton hosting, who knew law could be so funny!?!
The after party price is $90 for a single ticket and women are lined up at the door to attend. It’s one of the biggest and best parties of the year, for one of the best organizations in the country. Don’t let the name fool you, they are defending “everyone’s” rights, not just lesbians.
At the helm is Executive Director Kate Kendell. Over the years I have come to know Kate better and better. So, each year my esteem for her grows greater and greater. Here’s an article I wrote about her last year – http://outfrontonline.com/focus/features-focus/americas-head-lesbian-an-interview-with-nclrs-kate-kendell/
Still working out what to wear. Last year I had a full blown panic attack because I wished I was wearing something else. I’m a lot more confident in my options this year. Plus, my wusband and I are going shopping in LA on Thursday. So, I could just pick up something new.
Ciao for now Darlings!
